12 & Under Closed Baseball
RULES FOR THIS TOURNAMENT
1. As of this year, this tournament will implement the new Little League birth date cut-off rule of April 30. The rule states that if you are 12 years of age as of April 30 of this year, you are eligible to play in this tournament. This rule does imply that there may be young 13 year olds eligible to play. As has always been our policy younger players are also eligible. 2. Games are six innings or one hour, twenty-five minutes-whichever comes first. The semi-finals and finals are six innings with no time limit. A new inning starts as soon as the last out is made in the previous inning. In the event of injury, the official scorekeeper will stop timing until play resumes. 3. A ten-run rule applies after four innings and a fifteen-run rule after three. This rule applies in all games. 4. A pitcher may pitch no more than six innings in a day and no more than 12 innings in the tournament. One pitch in an inning is considered an inning pitched. Violation of this rule results in forfeiture. The coach of each team must obtain a record from the official scorekeeper at the end of each game, showing the number of innings pitched by each pitcher from that team. This record is given to the scorekeeper at the next game. 5. The pitching distance is 50 feet. The basepaths are 65 feet. 6. A runner may not leave the base until the pitcher releases the ball. 7. The ball must be returned directly to the pitcher following an out. The pitcher may intentionally walk a batter by indicating that intent to the umpire. There is a limit of three warm-up pitches at the start of an inning or following a change of pitchers. This may be extended at the umpire’s discretion. 8. The rule on 2 3/4 barrel bat weight-to-length is a differential of -EIGHT ( a 30" bat must weigh at least 22 ounces ). Or a 2 1/4 barrel bat may also be used with no length restriction. 9. Metal cleats are not permitted. Non-metal cleats are allowed. All batters, runners and players serving as base coaches must wear helmets with ear flaps. Catchers must wear throat protectors. 10. A starter or non-starter who has been replaced may re-enter the game ONCE. The re-entry must be to the same spot the player occupied in the batting order. A player who has been replaced may still be used as a courtesy runner.
